Monika Andrews Children’s Park
Nobody has walked Monika Andrews Children’s Park and written it up, and there is no list of what is there. What this page can tell you honestly is where it is and who looks after it. The rest is waiting on a visit.
Monika Andrews Children’s Park sits at the intersection of Utica and Holley Streets in Brockport, on 0.9 acres. For nearly fifty years the site held the Village of Brockport Grammar School. The school was torn down in the 1950s, and the site became a playground. In 2000, neighbors rebuilt it with equipment that meets accessibility rules. A pavilion holds picnic tables donated by PetSmart. A glider swing lets parents sit and watch children play. The park was once called the Utica Street Park. The village renamed it on August 9, 2011, to honor Monika Andrews. Monika’s Playground was the first accessible playground in Monroe County.
