Harvester Park
Nobody has walked Harvester Park and written it up, and there is no list of what is there. What this page can tell you honestly is where it is and who looks after it. The rest is waiting on a visit.
Harvester Park sits on the Erie Canal at the corner of Water Street and Park Avenue in Brockport. In 1845, William Seymour and Dayton Morgan began building Cyrus McCormick’s reaper here. The site became the oldest reaper factory in the world. The village named the park in February 1970, after Harold Richards won a naming contest. The park’s two-story Welcome Center has accessible bathrooms with showers, a coin laundry, and a common room. Eleven dockside posts give boaters water and power. A low landing serves canoes and kayaks. A metal sculpture called ‘Howdeee,’ by Bill Stewart, stands at the waterfront.
