The Erie Canal Trail follows the old towpath, where mules once pulled canal boats. It runs 360 miles from Buffalo to Albany, passing through Rochester, Syracuse, and Utica. The path is mostly level and paved, with some sections of stone dust, gravel, or a natural surface. It is part of the Canalway Trail system and the 750-mile Empire State Trail.
This map point is Lock 32 State Canal Park in Pittsford, one place to get on the trail. It is not the whole 360-mile route.
