Erie Canal Nature Preserve
The Erie Canal Nature Preserve is a 20-acre Town of Pittsford park beside the Erie Canal. The entrance is on the Erie Canalway (Towpath) Trail: walk east from the Monroe Avenue bridge or west from the North Main Street bridge. You can also get in from the Auburn Trail behind the Old Pickle Factory at 1 Grove Street. The preserve connects the Towpath Trail to the Auburn Trail. It has hiking trails, an elevated boardwalk, a creekside rest area, and overlooks at the Frog Pond and the meadow. Signs explain the wildlife and ecology. A 60-by-60-foot pollinator garden and small food forest uses only native plants. The preserve is handicap accessible. It is next to the Village’s 10-acre Robert C. Corby Arboretum and Wildlife Sanctuary. The park closes at dusk.
