El Camino Trail
Nobody has walked El Camino Trail and written it up, and there is no list of what is there. What this page can tell you honestly is where it is and who looks after it. The rest is waiting on a visit.
El Camino Trail follows an old CSX railroad right of way that the City of Rochester bought in 2006. The Genesee Land Trust led the work to build it, with the City, IBERO, and other community partners. The trail runs 2.25 miles each way, on stone dust and pavement. It crosses the Genesee River on a trestle. It links Conkey Corner Park, Seneca Park, the Genesee Riverway Trail, the Avenue D Recreation Center, and the Buena Vista senior center. Construction finished in spring 2012, with a ribbon cutting on National Trails Day.
This map point is Conkey Corner Park, the trail’s western trailhead. It is not the whole 2.25-mile route.
