Johnson Park
What is there 2 recorded
Johnson Park is named for Jack “Stonewall” Johnson, who bought this Scottsville land after moving from Virginia in 1910. He was the son of formerly enslaved parents. Johnson built a home on the property and made a park with a fishing pond, a horseshoe court, and a croquet lawn. In winter he flooded a raceway for ice skating. When he died in 1950, the Village of Scottsville bought the land and named the park for him. Today you can play at the skate park, baseball diamonds, and volleyball courts, or skate on the winter ice rink.
