Canawaugus Park sits on Oatka Creek, off Route 251. The Village of Scottsville owns and runs the park. It has picnic tables, benches, and parking, plus a view across the creek to old canal walls. Nearby, George Bridge lets you walk over the creek. It was once a train bridge for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Scottsville grew up on the site of a Seneca village called Ganowages. The town’s name comes from a Seneca word that means bad-smelling water.
