State Road Nature Preserve

What we know 0 of 3

Nobody has walked State Road Nature Preserve and written it up, and there is no list of what is there. What this page can tell you honestly is where it is and who looks after it. The rest is waiting on a visit.

State Road Nature Preserve covers 83 acres off State Road. A 1.1-mile loop trail runs through woods and grasslands, following part of Four Mile Creek. Parking is on the road shoulder for now, though the town plans a small lot. The land was farmland with apple orchards decades ago. A farm pond went in during the 1950s. After that the drier ground grew back into woods. The wetter ground became grass and cattails. Trails can be muddy in spring, and poison ivy grows along them.
