Hart's Woods
Hart’s Woods is a 10-acre forest near Moseley Road in the northwest part of Perinton. It is a National Natural Landmark. It is a rare undeveloped remnant of beech, maple and oak forest, with a canopy 80 to 90 feet high and some trees that are 250 years old. You get in from Clarkes Crossing to the south, or from the Minerva DeLand School land to the north. A trail system opened in 2012. Nearby residents and the neighboring school use the woods most. In 2013 the National Park Service advised a quiet plan for the woods, with little maintenance and little advertising. Too many visitors could harm them. Some trails cross private land, so stay on the trail. Bikes are not allowed on the trails. Keep dogs on a leash and pick up after them.
